Nokia has just announced they are making walk and drive navigation free on their smartphones with the new version of Ovi Maps.
Yeah! It mean FREE to use the features including the ability to easily share your location with your friends, sync your landmarks and routes with Ovi Maps online, and get weather and other local information at no extra cost
What does the FREE ON NEW SMARTPHONE mean?
There are only 10 Nokia's GPS enabled devices given free premium features such as the Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5800 XPM, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia E52, Nokia E72, Nokia 5230, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 6730 and the new Nokia X6
Nokia is aiming to make the best maps with voice guided navigation available worldwide for free. It's certainly a good move for Nokia to make the premium content of Ovi Maps for free whereas the latest version of Android were given free-voice-guided turn-by-turn with Google.
We want to make using your mobile for navigation as familiar as using it to send a text or take a picture. We believe that making the best maps with voice guided navigation available for free will be the catalyst to do this. Why have a mobile phone and a separate car navigation system that works in only one country or region? Put the two together, make it free, make it global and you have something that is truly useful and can help you get round almost any city in the world whether you’re on foot or driving.
Say Anssi Vonjoki, Executive Vice President of Nokia
The new Ovi Maps are now available to download for the 10 Nokia handsets that I've mentioned earlier.
