Recently Nokia Malaysia has just launched a new highend Nseries flagship phone series, the Nokia N900. A new OS platform (Maemo 5) was introduced that can deliver a PC-like experience on a mobile device.

A brief of hardware's specification of the Nokia N900

Screen



It has a bright full 3.5" resistive touch screen on the front accompany with a front camera, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor which located on the right side (in landscape).

Althought it has resistive screen but the sensitivity & accuracy are almost as good as capacitive screen with vibrate tactic feedback.

Keyboard



It has a 3 rows of comfortable full QWERTY keyboard that supported shortcut keys such as ctrl+c (copy), ctrl+v (paste), ctrl+x (cut) and more that can be refer to HERE.

The slider of the keyboard is quite solid and locked in position without any issue of wobble.

Performance



The N900 run on a powerful ARM Cortex-A8 600MHz processor paired with 1GB of RAM allowing many applications to be run stimultaneously smoothly just like a PC. Beside that it has a 3D graphic accelerator with OpenGL ES 2.0 support.

Storage

It has a 32GB internal storage and expandable up to 48GB with microSD. Couldn't image who can actually finish 32GB of memory in a phone.

Web Browsing



The default browser is powered by Mozilla technology that bring websites look the way you browse on your PC. Adobe Flash(TM) 9.4 + AJAX supported made online videos and interactive application welcomed.

Camera



The N900 has a 5 Megapixel Carl Zeiss optics with dual LED flash beneath of a lens cover. It allow to take pictures in widescreen and as well video recording in DVD quality 800x480px.

The nightmare of scratching the camera lens wouldn't be happened on the N900 as the lens cover is attached to the back cover instead of the lens.

Contacts & IM



Phonebook's contact now are richer with more details such as Facebook, Twitter, IM embedded in one contact.



It has integrated with IM onto the contacts, so you will be able to see which of your contacts are online and get communicate with them.

Conversations & SMS



All the incoming and outgoing IM & SMS will be displayed in individual conversations so you would not miss what you have talked.

A-GPS



Nokia N900 has pre-installed with Nokia Maps with free navigation but it's the most basic UI without turn by turn navigation.

Applications & Ovi Store



Various apps for Maemo can be downloaded via Maemo Select through various app catalogue as well from Ovi Store via web.

The Maemo 5 OS platform has given a very spacious room for mobile device to growth and fulfilling the consumers's needs.

Well The Nokia N900 has fulfilled all the criteria of an IMD and can be work as good as a Netbook.
